Equipment Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
Conducts, maintains, tests and repairs all equipment of all Whataburger facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operating systems to maintain the established Five Points of Focus standards while performing the daily field service requirements. Applies technical knowledge of mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to proper operation. Ensures that work orders and all related documents are properly closed according to departmental goals, JDE guidelines and customer service agreement. Provides technical support to Equipment Technician Team and other facilities disciplines when requested.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent. College hours in technical-related courses preferred. Minimum five (5) years field experience in the HVAC and restaurant equipment repair field. Minimum two (2) years work experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair preferred. Strong refrigeration & HVAC knowledge / skills. Good working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Good organizational skills, ability to handled multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and meet critical deadlines. Ability and desire to learn new equipment. Demonstrated safety consciousness. Proven ability to work with all levels within the organization. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven ability as a team player with strong work ethic. Valid driver’s license, liability insurance, clear driving record and drug screen, and a clear background check required. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification or CFC Certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Satisfactory background check, to include drug screen, required for all hires into the positions of Coordinator/Manager and above.
Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work effectively on elevated platforms, when necessary.
Ability to receive information and/or instruction from internal/external customers through spoken expression.
Ability to lift heavy tools/equipment, when necessary.
Ability to manipulate tools/equipment/keyboards.
Must be willing to be on call and work overtime, when necessary.
Ability to convey information and/or instruction to internal/external customers through spoken expression.
Ability to perform work while standing for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours a day.
Occasional overnight travel by air and by car required. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and insurance required.
Ability to see, naturally or with correction, detailed information.
